The latest Voice of an Agent survey by We Are Unchained has landed and it’s a genuinely thought-provoking snapshot of where estate agency is heading in the age of tech and AI.
What stands out most is the growing divide across the industry.
On one side are the so-called “Growth Agents”—those embracing multiple layers of technology and AI. On the other, more traditional agencies are either slow to adopt, not utilising what they have, or not engaging at all.
The gap between these two groups is no longer subtle; it’s widening into a clear competitive advantage. The message is simple: those who invest in and utilise tools are pulling ahead.
Another striking takeaway is the sentiment around property portals. A huge 90% of agents surveyed feel that traditional portals are falling behind technological progress rather than driving it. Despite their dominance in consumer reach, innovation appears sluggish, particularly when it comes to harnessing AI in ways that actually matter to agents.
Because here’s the real shift: agents aren’t crying out for more eyeballs on listings. They want precision. They want intelligent tools that can match the right buyer to the right property at the right moment and identify potential sellers just as they’re ready to act.
In short, the industry is moving from volume to value. Less noise, fewer low-intent leads, and a sharper focus on high-quality opportunities. It’s no longer about quantity—it’s about timing, relevance, and results.
